 Preparing for the test 

 It is important to know the format of the test before starting IELTS test preparation. The format of the test has been mentioned here. 

  • Listening test consists of four recorded conversations and monologues. Duration is 30 minutes. 
  • Reading section has three long reading passages with tasks. The passages are factual, analytical and descriptive in nature. Diagrams, graphs and illustrations are also present in this section. Duration is 60 minutes.
  • Writing test of 150 words in which the candidate needs to describe, summarise or explain a chart, graph, table or diagram. A short essay of 250 words must also be written. Duration is 60 minutes.
  • Face-to-face interview encompassing short questions, structured discussion and speech on a topic.
